We the People (KEKI ME METOSE NENIWA) by Richard C. Thomas vinyl mural printed from mixed media on canvas, 2007 Purchased by the Waterloo Center for the Arts, 2007.0587 Richard C. Thomas planned this masterful composition, viewable on the parking garage above Waterloo’s Lafayette street, after researching the history and culture of Waterloo, IA. The mural celebrates the long history of habitation in the Cedar Valley. It acknowledges early presence of Native Americans, and the subsequent waves of immigrants who through their presence and work, have made, and continue to make, important contributions to the character of the area.
