Description |
Threshing is the process of removing the grain from the stalk while separating out the seeds. While the process was originally done by hand, the development of threshing machines in the mid-19th century made the process more efficient. The machine was originally pulled by horse, but newer models allowed the machine to be pulled by steam engine, and later run on gasoline. Content can be used with the following standards: 4th grade SS 4.26 Changes to Agriculture in a lesson on farming methods used in the early 1900s.
