Sokol Shirt This baseball uniform top is believed to be a uniform from the Cedar Rapids chapter of Sokol. Sokol is a fraternal organization that was founded by Czech immigrants in the 1860s, and whose halls are common sites around Czech communities in the United States. Sokol participants engaged in cultural activities such as music, theater, and dance, but were known primarily for their focus on physical culture such as gymnastics. The organization drew largely from the phrase "a sound mind in a sound body," and was also an organization that promoted independence for the Czech lands.
