Additional Research & Sources |
World War I began in 1914, but the United States entered the war in 1917. This was due to many reasons such as the Zimmerman Telegram, the sinking of the RMS Lusitania, and Germany’s unrestricted submarine warfare. Even though the US war experience was short, it was still very important and impactful. With US involvement, more supplies were shipped to England and France to help combat the Germans. Also more men were pushed to the front which helped reinforce English and French troops. This object connects with the following standards: Standard SS-US.9-12.2 Iowans Influence US History: A lesson on Iowans fighting in WW1 could be created. Standard SS-WH.9-12.26 Iowans Influence World History: A lesson on Captain Hall volunteering to fight for the French and English during WW1 could be created. |
