This sketch was drawn by Charles "Chuck" Raymond of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. Raymond moved to Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of ten and was known for his artistic ability. Raymond served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. After he returned to the United States, Raymond painted murals in several Sioux City schools and businesses. In the 1960s, the Sioux City Museum hired Raymond to create drawings that would help illustrate the stories of Natve American objects in the museum. His sketches showed the traditional uses of the objects in the museum, and they remain part of the museum to this day. Raymond passed away in 1969 at the age of 58.
