Description |
This coal cutter came from Appanoose County, Iowa. Coal cutting machines such was this one produced cuts in seams of coal in underground coal mines. Miners then used mechanical devices or explosives to break apart the rest of the layer of coal. Content can be used with the following standards: 2nd grade SS 2.24 Natural Resources in a lesson on natural resources found in Iowa and how they were used.
