Inkpaduta led an attack on white settlers settling in the Spirit Lake area. He and his band killed all of the settlers despite a select few which they took prisoners. Abbie Gardner was one of these prisoners. After the Spirit Lake Massacre, Inkpaduta and his men began to head north and eventually escaped capture by the American Government. The Spirit Lake Massacre sent fear and anger into white settlers settling on the American Western Frontier. |
